I thought I would share just a little history about myself.
In the summer of 2002 I was doing a self breast exam and found a little lump. I thought about it for a couple days, and something was just nagging at me to get it checked. I called the Dr. and was scheduled for a mammogram immediately. After taking picks, they called a radiologist over and he suggested I get a biopsy. The biopsy showed cancer. After discussion with the Dr. I chose to get a mastectomy of my left breast with reconstructive surgery. I went through chemotherapy which ended in January of 2003 and then began tamoxifen, which I took for 5 years. This summer I am celebrating 10 years cancer free!!!!!!
Ladies, I am living proof of the importance of self exams and mammograms!!!!!
Take care of your girls :)
My inspiration for the card I would like to share with you today is the many wonderful friends who came by to give me a book to read, a meal so I didn't have to cook, or a card to let me know they cared. I remember needing those little "pick me ups", especially when I was going through chemo.
For the card I cut a couple rectangles out of pink cardstock and attached them to my white card base. I doodled in between the rectangles with a Sweetwater doodling template and added black diamond Stickles to the hearts. I cut two squares out of patterned paper and punched a photo corner, then attached all of them over the pink cardstock. The bra was stamped on patterned paper and fussy cut, then attached to white cardstock cut with Labels One Nestabilities. Stamped my sentiment in the corner. Attached some rhinestones for a little bling.
Supplies used: cardstock - white, pink; patterned paper from Yolie; Sweetwater Doodling template; Black Diamond Stickles; rhinestones - Kaiser Craft; Stamps - Skipping Stones Designs; Label One Nestabilities by Spellbinder.
