Meet our FIRST Design Team!

Thank you for the lovely response to our Design Team call.  It was a super tough choice and I ended up selecting 5 DT members instead of 4 as we had planned.

Meet our First Design Team. This talented group of ladies will be posting Breast Cancer Awareness projects leading up to our big Link Up for Pink event.  They are a valuable part of the LUFP's team. We hope you will decide to follow us on our journey and of course on our Blog and theirs.
Here is a little bit more about our very talented Design Team members.

LUFP DT Member

I am retired and work full time in my studio making art in a 100+ year old converted barn here in the woods of New Hampshire with my also retired hubs and brown tiger kitty Raphael (yes, like the painter). I am eclectic working in paper arts (my main passion) where I make handmade cards, collage art, tag art, and handmade albums. I love color and texture which is why you will see lots of layers on my handmade cards, and well, most of my art! I also dabble in mixed media, watercolor, acrylics, nature photography and silver smithing all of which I love. After a 25+ year hiatus from art my artistic muse (Elly by the way) one day smacked me on the head and yelled in my ear (as muses are known to do), "what are you waiting for"? This is me...

I am a wife, mother, grandmother. I like to hike, water ski, bake and of course craft, craft, craft. I especially love paper crafting whether it is making cards, layouts, home decor, and more.  I have been blogging for almost 2 years now and really love it.  It is fun to not only share my creations but to be inspired by others. In fact I am sure my hubby would tell you I spend to much time on the computer. I feel like I have made many friends since I started blogging and have enjoyed sharing my passion with them.
I will be celebrating my ten year anniversary as a breast cancer survivor this summer. As a breast cancer survivor this cause has a special place in my heart. It is important to raise awareness, not only to educate other women on the importance of mammograms, etc. but also to work toward a cure so our daughters and granddaughters will not have to worry about this disease.

I love life, enjoy all people, as I never meet a stranger.  I will go out of my way to help someone that needs a hand no matter what it’s for.  My daughter and I started a card class at our church and we now have a morning and afternoon class as it has grown to 38 ladies from all ages who come to enjoy themselves and we get many hugs and thanks.  I make cards almost daily and they are donated to our church for sale and they keep all monies received.  I just enjoy all of my friends and for the small family we have remaining we show lots of love to one another.   LUFP is, I think it is for one of the greatest causes.  I make Breast Cancer cards and have given many away to women who had or have  cancer.  I get many hugs and smiles and what more motivation can you get?

I am truly humbled by the many people in my life who have been touched by the affects of cancer in some way. My beloved Grandmother passed away from breast cancer and I miss her every single day and it's been 12 years since her passing. I believe being a part of this design team would allow me another outlet to honor the memory of my Grandmother and to honor so many others who have and or are suffering because of cancer.
I work full time at a University and craft when I can find the time. I LOVE crafting--it is truly my outlet in life. I enjoy trying various techniques and I rarely meet a stamp set I don't love. I enjoy using my Cricut and love rubber stamping. In my free time when I am not crafting I love spending time with my husband and our family and friends. I am a big MN Twin's baseball fan and I love college hockey as well! Go Sioux.

I am married to a wonderful man who supports my crazy hobby and have 3 wonderful children ranging from ages 8-15.  I am involved in every aspect of their lives, still find the time to manage my crafting addiction. I love to make pretty cards and hope that one day I can get back into scrapbooking, but for now, cards seem to be my comfort level.
In the last couple of years, I have seen more of my friends been diagnosed with breast cancer.  I work in the HR field and have seen employees or their family members being affected by this horrible disease.  It breaks my heart each time I hear that someone is going through this and it just makes me realize even more how much awareness is needed, not just for women but also for men.  Men have also been struck with breast cancer and I've heard of those cases from people who are close to me.  The three individuals that are motivating me.... are Michelle, Edie and Jeny.

I'm Yolie the founder of Link Up for Pink.  I am blessed to be married to one super supportive husband, Michael.  I enjoy making cards, scrapbook layouts and most recently, I’ve gotten into Smashing.  I love the journey that this site has taken me on in getting to know talented crafters from all over the world and providing me with constant inspiration!
As we all know, October is Breast Cancer Awareness month, but it should not start or end in October, we should always be aware. Remember to do your self-breast exams, send reminder cards to your friends to get their mammograms, and accompany a friend to their appointment.
As we take this journey together, let us take the time to celebrate life, live for today and remember the lives of the women and men no longer with us.
